GENERAL HISTORY OF AFRICA

The General History of Africa is a pioneering work, initiated within UNESCO by historians with the aim of making known a history of the continent free of the entire colonial context. More than 400 historians have gathered to tell this story in 8 volumes.

This project consists in creating an opera adapted from these volumes, retracing the history of the continent and its diaspora. It is a series work, a Work In Progress whose different components will be deployed around transversal themes. The creation of this opera, on the border of all disciplines, will highlight the richness of African creativity.

The creation of this opera, the first milestone of the programme, will be followed by the publication of books and comic strips, the production of a documentary film, a web series and sound pieces retracing the history of the continent.
