LES RENCONTRES DE BAMAKO

Organized by the Ministry of Culture of Mali with the support of the French Institute, the Bamako Meetings are the main event devoted to contemporary photography and new images in Africa. International in scope, the Bamako Encounters are a platform for discovery, exchange and visibilité́, they are an essential place of revelation for African photographers, a time of exchange with the Malian public and professionals from around the world. In 2019, the Rencontres de Bamako celebrates its 25th anniversary. The 12th edition will take place in Bamako from 30 November 2019 to 31 January 2020.

The African Capitals of Culture are hosting the Bamako Encounters as part of Marrakech 2020, to launch a programme aimed at: supporting young people and young creators through itinerant masterclasses, photo and journalism scholarships, cross residencies and the creation of a house of photography in Bamako.
